You want it you got it...
New post!
This is the first official post from Eau Claire. The other one wasn't official because all the room mates and friends weren't actually here yet. So here we go.
First off, I'd like to take a step back to my vacation to Upper Michigan. On our first day when my mom and step-dad went into town to buy wood, they encountered some locals. Although this would turn out to be more entertaining than frightening. They went to the gas station, or so they thought. First there was an Amoco sign by the road, they pulled in, and there were no gas pumps. Apparently it used to be a gas station, but they forgot to take the sign down or something. Well they went down the road a little way and got to the real gas station that looked nothing like a gas station at all. They purchased gas and some firewood and noticed the laundromat across the street. My mom inquired about the laundromat as far as hours and that sort of thing, thinking that if she needed to she could do laundry since we were gonna be there the rest of the week. Well the lady apparently had the most confused look on her face, and then all of a sudden something sparked her memory, and she goes, and I quote, "oooh! You mean the washeteria!" Yes. She said Washeteria. And then, later on through our voyage deeper into the depths of hell, we actually saw a building in Sault Ste. Marie, on the Michigan side (Canadians aren't that dumb) that said Washeteria on it. I was dumbfounded. But I suppose, it WAS the U.P.
Another tie into the trip happened this afternoon. They had a meal out in the backyard for all of us Chancellor's hall residents, so we could meet one another. Well, I sat at a table and met a guy named Skip and his friend. I laughed on the inside and asked what his friends name was. Unfortunately, it wasn't Josh. That would've just been the craziest thing ever.
Well, onto the present. Today, what happened today. Well, behind Governor's hall there was a gathering for C.U.B.E. fest. That stands for Creating the Ultimate Blugold Experience. We are the UW- Eau Claire Blugolds after all. Don't ask me, I have no idea what a Blugold is supposed to be. Anyway, they had all kinds of those big inflatable things that you can bounce around in, and a dunk tank sponsored by the dance team, that was pretty busy, as one would expect. They had all kinds of free stuff too. Most notably was Papa John's pizza. Joe and I were standing in line for pizza, someone started the line in hopes that there was soon more to arrive, because at that time the tables were empty. Well it was good intuition on our part because very soon the line became very long, probably a couple hundred people in line waiting for pizza. Well then a Papa John's car pulls up and a guy gets out, and there was another guy that had been by the table that went to help him. If I counted correctly they took out about 8-10 of the bags that keep the pizza hot. Each of those contained 4 large pizzas. Some simple math will give you 32-40 pizzas and everyone got a slice, so there were 256-320 slices of pizza. Then before we were even done eating another car pulled up, needless to say there was a hell of a lot of pizza and it was all consumed very rapidly. Hell, they filled up a dumpster with the empty pizza boxes. Along with the pizza they had free root beer floats, Icee's with a variety of syrups, cotton candy, and the last and probably most humurous was the orange juice that was donated by Kwik Trip... here's how I explained it to Kyle... I'll copy and past it 'cause I don't want to retype it, meh, I'm lazy get over it...
"so, get this... this may end up in my blog... but I'll tell ya anyway... they have this C.U.B.E. fest every year... Creating the Ultimate Blugold Experience... 'cause we're the blugolds...well more on that another day... but they had all kinds of free food, pizza, root beer floats, cotton candy... and then this table had orange juice on it that was donated from kwik trip for the purpose of some kind of awareness thing for college drinking... well... they're little 8oz. bottles... before I read the sign my initial reaction was... OH! look! little orange juices, you could drink a little out of that and then put a little vodka in it and have a bunch of little screwdrivers to take with you, how convenient, then I read the sign and couldn't stop laughing as I stuffed multiple juices bottles into my pockets..."
Beyond all of that, nothing too exciting happened today... Oh shit... I have to go move my car, damnit... I start class and work tomorrow. Ugh... Class at 8-9:15 then work 4-9. Should be a long and yet boring day. So, if you wanna do something during the day, I'm sure I'll have time. Oh, and I have to get notebooks. Apparently, as Tara reminded me, I need those for class. Who would've thought. Oh well. I'll get them someday... I'm such a procrastinator. :) Well, it's off to move my car so I don't get a parking ticket then probably to bed so I can get up and get to class on time.
Hot damn, I love Air Conditioning!
Have a nice summer!
