Wal-Mart, I should really stop shopping there.

So I was just reading this article I found from December 2003. It's about Wal-mart and the horror of it all. I knew there were bad things in dealing with Wal-mart but holy crap. The person who wrote the article, found here, gave multiple very specific examples but ultimately he came to one point. Perhaps Sam Walton is in fact the most powerful man in the world. But honestly, the point he ended up making was this. We want clean air, clear water, good living conditions, the best health care in the world, and yet we aren't willing to pay for anything manufactured under those restrictions. Small businesses are another story, but at a larger scale big companies like Levi Strauss and Master Lock are affected by an extreme amount from dealing with Wal-mart. Wal-mart forces manufacturers to maintain the lowest prices possible making most of them move out of the US where products can be manufactured cheaper. His best example of this was Master Lock. In an effort to maintain t...

Econ = Sofa King Ease Eh

I just finished my Econ test, literally 10 minutes ago. Now I'm posting to tell you all that I did awesome, maybe two wrong.. MAYBE. I'll find that out soon enough and I'll report back to let you know. I'm heading to Appleton today, but first our wonderful professor has decided that there's some stuff that we should do after taking the test instead of just letting us go for the weekend. As I said to David, if he weren't such a nice guy I'd probably hate him. Well, I have about 10 minutes here and then I've got to get back into the classroom. So, I just wanted to post something, and if anyone in Appleton wants to hang out this weekend give me a call on my cell phone. Adios! Have a nice summer!

Jimmy Eat World = JEW, Coincidence?

After probably the most boring weekend of my entire life I started class today. Econ from 9:15-12:15. But since we don't have class on Monday for Memorial Day we're going to have class from 9:00-12:15 to make up for it. So far it seems like it's going to be a fairly easy class, at least judging from the first day. There's somebody in the class that went to Appleton West, he must be younger because I don't know who he is, and I wouldn't think he'd be older. I got an email from our hall director today, it goes a little something like this. Chancellors Residents- There will be a power outage in Chancellors Hall tomorrow Tuesday May 24th, 2005. I have been informed the outage should last from 8am-11am, but may be as long as all day. Sorry for the inconvenience! Hooray for that! Actually I'm not certain you can call it a power outage. Those usually come as a surprise, this is more like, we're gonna cut your power simply to inconvenience you, Have a...

EC in the summertime..

In theory it's a good idea. No parents, lot's of money from work. Take some extra credits. WRONG! The reality of it all is that until the two of my room mates that are staying for the summer return, I'm going to be bored out of my mind! I've looked in the fridge like 50 times in the last 10 minutes. I watched a movie that was a good way to kill a couple hours, but I just keep thinking, until I start class monday, what can I do in my spare time?? So, any ideas, let me know. Let's see what you guys can come up with, just post them as comments, it'll be a game. We'll see who can come up with the best idea for what Ryan should do when he's bored. Have a nice summer!

This is the end... My only friend, the end.

In the immortal words of The Doors, "The time to hesitate is through." Accounting may very well be the death of me. Especially with my FAVORITE professor *sarcasm* Dr. Rundall. I often sit in class pondering what he looks like. I've narrowed it down to some sort of furry mammal, however I can't place what exactly it is I'm seeing in him. My current favorite to picture him as a panda bear. But there's a twist, this panda has some sort of uncurable disease that will spread to the rest of the panda population if this panda isn't "disposed of." So I guess what I'm really trying to say is, I'd like to have my accounting professor suffer some sort of disaster which involves the equivalent amount of pain that he's put us through over these last 15 weeks. Here's an alternative idea for those of you not too keen about killing. When we go in to take the final a bunch of us will light smoke bombs setting off the fire alarms and with ...

A Post Worthy of the Title: ARGH!

Sometimes things just piss me off for no reason. I can't even explain it. I'm typically pretty easy going most small things don't really bother me, but once in a while enough things come together at the right time that I just want to get away from everything for a while. Conveniently this has come during the busiest week of my semester, how nice. So yeah, if I seem irritable, or even downright grouchy, now you know, it's not you, it's everything. Well, back to the thing that I think put me over the edge, the wonderful world of accounting!! BAH! Have a nice summer.
